Lots of forums are dying out in favor of things like Facebook and Twitter. It makes sense. If Facebook had a suitable replacement for actual forums, I'd probably just redirect everyone to there.

I like the anonymity of the forum! I don't give two flying fucks what Facebook says about having privacy settings, there's no real privacy on Facebook unless you use sockpuppets and there's things I do and say on the internet that is not the concern of my real life family, friends, and potential employers. Nobody that knows me in real life needs to know that I sometimes troll people over the internet or troll businesses and local governments from payphones.

You don't need privacy on Facebook. You just need to set up a legit account for family and professional stuff, and then your fun account for PLA and other wacky things.

I'm not sure why, but there's still something I love about forums.. maybe its just because I've used them for so long
They are kinda more useful for continuing discussions though.. stuff just kinda gets lost in the mix on facebook
